A store manager who handles good customers badly!

I tried to return a kettle, which I had bought in that store some 7 or 8 months back, which was completely broken, even though it has a one year warranty. The entire lid portion had come loose, and it is impossible to close the kettle. I did not any longer have my till-slip or box, and knew that there was a chance I would not be able to receive a replacement because of this. The fact that I was not given a new kettle or credit is NOT the reason for my complaint. My complaint, directed at the store manager, Mr Jacques Chapman, regards the manner in which my problem was handled. Without asking me for any details, the manager launched into a tirade against my "abuse" of the kettle, and told me in front of a store full of staff and customers, that it is customers like me that "lose money for Checkers". His demeanour was confrontational and aggressive, insulting and belittling! The attitude of your store manager is most unacceptable. His handling of my complaint was unprofessional, to say the least! Are your store managers trained to handle customer complaints in a diplomatic and effective manner? It appears that this manager never attended such training. I am no longer a customer.
