Hansa Pilsener Advert Promotes Drinking At Work

Shops, Products, Services

Dear Hello Peter,

I was shocked by the content of the advertisement for Hansa Pilsener Beer and by the apparent lack of social conscience and blatant promotion of unacceptable behaviour in the workplace.

Hansa Pilsener has been screening an advertisement that shows the waiter, who is serving beers to guests, take a few sips from the one glass of beer before handing it to the guest. Then to make this behaviour seem like the right and expected thing that a waiter should do, the group of guests then seem to almost cheer what the waiter has done.

So, this advertisement is firstly condoning, if not out right promoting, the drinking of alcohol while at work.

Secondly, it is suggesting that this is acceptable behaviour that should be looked upon with admiration by one's peers.

What on earth were the people "responsible" for this thinking when they all approved the advertisement for a national television campaign?

My next correspondence is for the Broadcast Complaints Commission Of South Africa but hopefully this situation will be resolved before that becomes necessary.

Regards,

Neal Mason

P.S. This same complaint was made under the Hansa Pilsener name.
