Shoes as gift

I received a pair of sandals from a friend as a gift! She was here on holiday while buying it. I wore the shoes a few hours when i felt the tong between the toes coming loose. I went back to Willowbridge and asked if i can swop the sandals for another pair. I was told that they cant do it as i dont have a slip. As far as I know, dischem is the only place that sells these sandals. How am i supposed to get a slip from Loeriefontein? Also she doesnt have a dischem card as they dont have one up there. I think its so unfair that you wear a pair of shoes for one day and then it breaks!!! Never will i support dischem again!!!
