Jacket smells of wet dog

I recently bought an expensive duck down outdoors jacket from Timberland.

Upon wearing the jacket for a day it started to smell like a wet dog!!

No matter how you wash the jacket the smell will not go.

This is apparently a common complaint with this style jacket from timberland. My problem is if this problem is common why do they still sell jackets to the public for over R3000.00 a jacket and the consumer cannot use it.
