Dissatisfied with quality of purchased WATCH

I purchased a Hallmark watch as a gift on the 18th Dec 2012, which I took in to be checked within a week as the watch stopped ticking. The Manager had a look & assured me if it happens again I should return it, no reason was given as to why it stopped... I was just glad it was working and didn't bother to ask. I had 3 links removed, and my partner noticed the harness where the link is located started pulling loose. I asked him to please take it back to the Manager who removed the links... he did on the 17th January 2013 but then they asked him for a R25 deposit to send the watch back as it may need a "possible" new strap. When he told me about this I was not smiling & decided to call them to find out why he had to pay the deposit, they explained the same to me. I asked but how could they have sold me a bad quality watch of which the strap cannot last a month? They said well the strap is not under guarantee. I have left the watch there as it will cost an approx R250 again for a strap which broke in such a short time? I am never returning to purchase another item although I have been a cash client of theirs since living in Durban for 15 yrs. I am really disappointed.
