I called in to the Gateway Sterns store this morning to check availability of one of the Valentines gift sets advertised and was told that they had stock. I requested the sales person to keep the item and I would pick it up during lunch. I drove the 40 kms to the store that is furthest away from me due to stock availability and when I got to the store and the sales person rang up the items I was informed that the watch was not the one advertised and I couldn't get the set. The watch in question was just R50 more than the one advertised and even though I was prepared to pay the extra R50 I was told that it could not be done. When I asked the sales person to call head office to ask if they could still do the sale as a set with the different watch at the higher price and I would pay the extra I was told that they would not do it if it's not in the catalogue. Looks like there's no regard to customer satisfaction in Sterns store policy at all. The least that could of been done was charged me extra to make the sale if not given the set at the same price. What's R50 (that I was willing to pay) to a huge franchise like Sterns?
