Strip searching a minor - sexual harassment

I am appalled by what happened to my 14 year old nephew in Mr Price, Greenacres, Port Elizabeth this weekend. He has been stripped searched by staff of Mr Price after apparent suspicious behavior. This shy 14 year old boy from a conservative house hold had to be naked in front of strangers without parents or even the police present. Needless to say no items were found as none were taken. This is absolutely unethical and a direct contravention to the children's act as stipulated in our human rights bill.

At the moment, we are getting assistance to help him deal with what happened as he is showing early signs of PTSD.

Because it is our duty to report any abuse, including child sexual abuse and harassment, we have reported this to the necessary authorities including Childline and Legal Aid.

What worries me is that this has probably happened before and will probably happen again. Ethically and legally this is a very serious matter, especially in a country were and sexual offenses are prevalent.

I don't think an apology would suffice.
