If you want the dress you need to open an account

I was interested in a dress in the store but they did not have my size. The sales person checked the system to find the dress in my size, the closest store was 50 km away from my location. I was told that if I wanted the dress to be transferred to the current store I had to open an account with the store or else I needed to go fetch the dress from the other store. They weren't even willing to make a plan if I paid the dress in cash up front.

I am a student with no credit history, I make all my purchases cash as I do not have the capital capacity to afford any debt. The purchase was quite urgent and if I even wanted to open an account, which I didn't, I would have to provide proof of residence, employment and previous credit records which means that I would have been rejected to open an account as I am currently unemployed and have no credit history.

It is unacceptable that I need to open an account to make a purchase that can be done in cash, because according to the sales person it is due to inter-office that they can not do this transfer. So because of bad management and weak accountability, consumers must be inconvenienced?
