Shops, Products, Services

My elderly friend drew her SASSA pension at Shoprite Sea Point in early December. She remarked that the exchange was unusual as the teller/cashier counted her money on her lap as opposed to in front of her. She assumed this was for security reasons as the elderly are easy targets. For that very reason she didn't question it nor re-count in the shop. On arriving home she noticed her money was R100 short. She had no other money in her purse so she could be sure of this. She immediately contacted Shoprite Management who agreed to check but were insistent that there could be no error but said they would check the till cash. She checked back with them again as she received no update and the Manager was rude to her, immediately taking the cashier's side. It is wholly possible that, even if the till was not over, that the cashier pocketed the money as she counted and re-counted it on her lap. Please investigate and revert. Unfortunately Rene no-longer has the slip as she gave up on the process feeling like she was not being taken seriously. She is a very savvy and bright woman and excellent with money.
