Pick 'n Pay
Misleading, if not illegal invoicing practises

Shops, Products, Services

I saw an online offer at the Pick n Pay website for R500 below the normal retail price, to expire the day after (06/01/2014). I seized the opportunity, placed the order and paid immediately, using the online credit card portal [URL Removed] I considered this transaction complete.
Delivery was set for Wednesday 08/01/14. To my horror the day before, I was billed R1349 instead of the agreed R849. Assuming, I immediately blocked my credit card utilized and called the Pick n Pay customer care line to report such.
I was then informed that the local pnp serving my order had only created the "official" invoice after the promotional activity had ended, therefore I was billed the normal retail price.

This is not only misleading, but I am certain in contravention of the consumer protection act.
If properly highlighted to me I would have gone in-store, the following day, to still reap the benefits of said promotion.

Instead, I now have to cover the cost of a new credit card and am without the product (intended as a birthday gift for my father)
What horrifies me is that a company of such stature with enormous resources, takes the stance of simply cannot and will not assist.
