Selling of Rotten Chicken at Checkers, Ben Fleu

I bought a pack of chicken pieces from Checkers, Ben Fleur Boulevard, Witbank on 4 January 2014. I immediately brought it home and put it in the freezer. Then next morning I took the chicken out to prepare for a curry. I opened the packaging and I was hit in the face by a sour rotten smell. I went in closer to smell the chicken and it was completely rotten and had yellow coloring on and under the skin. I took it back to Checkers and spoke to the manager who admitted that some of their refrigerators were not working properly and were bring repaired yet he would not admit that they had sold me rotten chicken even though it was from one of the very refrigerators that was not working. This was 2 days before the package sell by date. Checkers was now out of stock of chicken so they were not able to replace my chicken and therefore replaced it with beef. This is the second time this has happened to me at the same checkers, last time with rotten pork ribs. This is absolutely disgusting and is a health hazard. I will not buy meant from checkers again and have advised my family, friends, and Facebook friends to beware or rotten meat at checkers.
