Gift Vouchers

I bought R1000 worth of gift vouchers on the 24 th December 2013. It was intended for my wife as a present. I asked the sales lady who sold the vouchers what would happen if my wife does'nt find anything she likes in the shop. She confidently assured me that it was as good as cash and that I will be refunded. On the 4 January 2014 we went to the shop to use the vouchers (4xR250) The purchases came to around R850.I was informed that I could not get the balance of the voucher back in cash. There was nothing else to buy for the remaining amount.
I felt that I was treated unfairly and insisted on my money back. I got a mouth full from Olivia that has no customer skills. I decided not to take any items and produced my original cash slip that I paid for the voucher. She was not interested to give me my money and said I must give her my debit card number as she would do it the following week. I tried explaining to her that there was no way I would give her my card details. It would be a risk. This is an unfair and illegal practise and I would be laying an official complaint with senior management on Monday. Be very carefull when buying from this outlet.
