Voucher can be used with card

My wife and i went into carnival mall mr price. We had a voucher which we used previously at anther mr price store but still have a balance. When my wife used it the first time she was not given the card back, but did get a slip showing what the balance was. She was told @ mr price northmead the she should use the slip. So we have the slip and while @ carnival mall we decided to purchase something. We were not allowed to with the card. The manager was called, she had no clue what shes doing either. So we walked out with a useless slip. So i want to know what do we do with this slip? Are managers trained on this? Does the voucher system not work? Is this how mr price make money for share holders? I wonder what mrs price will say about this?
