Is about my closed the insurence paid off my debt

I was retrenched from work so i gave them the retrenchment latters, the insurence paid off my debt, so nw when i open a new acc at price n pride they say im still. Owing russells .but my acc with russels was settled.so tell me how am i going to pay it coz my isurence paid.
