Price increase during holiday season

A chicken vetkoek cost R16.99 for the past few months. Suddenly today its R24.99. A 50% increase! I walked threw the shop and spoke to several local residents who confirmed my suspicion that the big price increase on several products during the holiday season happens every holiday. What about the people who support the shop thru the year? The manager could not explain to me why they do it but admitted that there is an increase on most of their products
