Purchased goods stollen by cashie

We went to Checkers at Columbine Crossing last night to purchase a few goods. Amongst those purchases, was Vodacom R29 airtime. The cashier who helped us was unfriendly and seemed really impatient. As she processed our sale, she just gave me the receipts to sign and she didn't hand over the airtime. We made our way to the vehicle and when we wanted to load the airtime, we realised that we didn't have it. We went back into the shop and the cashier wasn't there anymore, so I asked the managers and stated my story. The trainee manager that addressed me advised me that I should check my goods before I depart. I found that piece of advise to be really unprofessional and somewhat defencive and passing the buck cause there was no ownership to the mistake. They asked the cashier and she went somewhere towards the back of the shop to collect it. I asked the trainee manager if she had taken it for herself and he was reluctant to give me an answer. This is really disappointing as it is not the 1st time this happens to me at this particular shop. I feel defeated as a loyal customer.
