Wedding band almost more expensive than ring

I bought a R10 000 engagement ring for my fiance at American Swiss. We then decided to get a wedding band with a bend to fit with the ring and asked American Swiss to provide a quote.

After waiting for days we visited the shop and told that the tiny wedding band would almost cost R8 000. The sales lady was honest enough to explain that we are getting ripped off because we are working through a "retail chain" and that a private jeweller would ask a fraction of the cost.
I've had a lot of experience in buying jewelry and honestly at R3000 the wedding band would have been expensive.

Asking whether they do not care that we already supported them to the tune of R10 000 they shrugged their shoulders. We later got a call that offered us 25% discount at which it still is a complete rip-off.

So I will never ever support American Swiss again given that once they made a profit from a sale on an engagement ring they try to go for your wallet's jugular on the wedding band. Shameful practice and I will actively advise anyone not to be ripped off by this "retail outlet" but rather go to a private jeweller from the beginning
