Out of stock Online?

Since Woolworths in my surrounding area in Pretoria/Centurion hardly ever carry my size clothing, I decided to try online shopping, as I was under the impression that the clothing would come from a central warehouse. After selecting my area of delivery, I saw that some choices became greyed out, so I figured those choices cannot be picked for my area (i.e. some items are unavailable). I placed my order from the choices I had.

Two days later I was contacted and told that some of my items are not available and that I need to replace them with some other colour choices. Still two days later I was contacted again to state that another item on my order is not avaible.

My question is, HOW can items be out of stock online? What is the point of having this store if they stock the same items as the stores then?
