Shoprite
Smelling liqour and made to wait for 20min

Shops, Products, Services

As law enforcers, we were doing our routine patrol at Turffontein. We decided to buy coke since it waa hot and the convenient store was shoprite. We went in and bought 2l coke and a glass. I had a hundred rand note and at the till the rude woman who served made it appear as if it was a crime to pay with a hundred rand note. In her own words she said "ngikhathele ilabantu bama hundred rand, nithi ngiyithathepi I change', meaning I'm tired of people paying with hundred rand notes, where do u expect me to get change from. I then asked her if it was a problem to pay with a hundred rand note, then she raised her voice and told me that she was doing us a favor since its not her duty to operate the till.she then harassed all the other customers that came behind me and refered them to other tills. There was a white couple that had hundred ran notes also and she was about to serve them when I told her to serve me first. She scanned my items, removed the slip and a few coins and put them aside. She then continued to serve other customers for a full 30min before she could give me my change.she was smelling beer, screaming and I wonderd if shoprite now employs people at shebeens
