Pick 'n Pay
No Tellers! Queues forever!

Shops, Products, Services

I'm a pensioner and regularly visit Pick'n Pay, Woodlands on Wednesdays. Yesterday at 09h40 was a repeat episode of the previous TWO Wednesdays - I arrived in the queue and was no. 9. There were only TWO tellers operating. People behind me were complaining bitterly.By the time I reached no. 2 in the queue, the one teller closed up and walked off, despite the fact that the queue (at that time) had 14 people waiting to be served. How disgusting! I guess "tea time" (or whatever her reason might have been) is far more important than serving the clients in a queue. The single teller ("Maria") complained to me that she was "tired" because she's "old"! She was SO SLOW! By the now the queue had grown even longer - I counted 16 people. A white gentleman was walking around looking at the tellers' points and I said "Excuse me, is it ok for you that there is only ONE teller operating with a queue this long? " He wasn't apologetic, he just said that he was "working on it"! My response was "well, don't you PLAN your tellers' on-duty schedules? ". He kept walking. Let me say that I would shop at Checkers or Woolworths, than repeatedly wasting my time in a queue. Useless management!!!
