Threats from a third party

My wife had an account with truworths and had arrears but we managed to settle the account about a year ago, and suddenly we receiving calls from some unprofessional bad attitude ladies claiming to be from a law company representing Truworths, n that there is stil an amount of money i owe to Truworths to get the account settled, so my question now is why should i pay such people i don't have business with?
