Deposit paid but order not put through

My husband and I made a 50% deposit to reserve a dining table and chairs on the 25th of June. We were told to email the proof of payment and then we can get a table that would be arriving on the 15th of August. I sent the proof of payment on the day I made the payment. On the 14th of August I followed up and discovered that the order had not been put through and that there was no stock of the table and we would have to wait until 20 September for the table. The sales person at first (by saying he had put through the order but the shipment hadnt arrived still). It eventually emerged that stock did come but because our order wasn't put through we didnt get a table. The furniture manager apologised profusely and took the salesperson to task. I told her that it was only fair that we get a discount for having to wait three months for a dining room table due to the salespersons error. She said she would speak to the Area manager to see if the delivery fee can be waived but we would not be able to get a discount. I personally don't feel that waiving of the delivery fee will suffice and i feel we should get a discount for our inconvenience. I am very UNHAPPY about this situation
