Pick 'n Pay
Employment Criteria?

Shops, Products, Services

Yesterday was the last time that I shopped at Pick 'n Pay, Summerstrand Village in Port Elizabeth.

It seems to me that when you apply for a job at Pick 'n Pay, the questions are:
1.
When a client approaches the bakery counter, do you:
a) Ignore the client for a while,
b) Come up to the counter but do not greet the client,
c) Hand the client his or her purchases without a thank you
d) Never smile or show any pleasantness towards the client.
e) All of the above
2.
When a client approaches your check out till, do you:
a) Continue your conversation with your packer, mutter "smart shopper card", continue your conversation with the packer while scanning the goods.
b) State the price, insert the card into the card reader and mutter "pin".
c) Hand the client his / her card back without saying thank you.
d) Never smile or show any pleasantness towards the client.
e) All of the above
It seems to me that, if you answered "all of the above", to both questions, you have a job at any Pick 'n Pay Store in Port Elizabeth.
Pick 'n Pay management should go shopping at any Spar or Woolworths Food Store. They might learn something about customer service.
But then that is only my opinion.
