Makro specials are a sham

Makro is supposedly running a special on a Garmin Nuvi 3597 GPS at R3299 from 06 August 2013 to 02 September 2013. I checked stock on their web site on 08 August and verified that all stores had stock. I went to the Woodmead branch on Friday 09 August and was told they were out of stock. The sales staff made a concerted effort to convince me that I should rather take a different model of which they did have stock. Since I was there to buy a specific model, I was not interested.

After making me stand around for about an hour while the sales staff "checked in the back" they concluded that there definitely was no stock. There was a demo model under the counter which I offered to buy, but they said that only somebody named "Eric" would be able to authorise that, but he was not at the counter at the time. I stood around for another half hour waiting for "Eric" and eventually gave up and left.

On Sunday 11 August I phoned the Strubens Valley branch to enquire if they had stock and they said they were sold out as well - even though their web site still states that all stores have stock. When asking when they would be getting stock, I was told there are no plans.
