Debit before delivery, cancelled - no funds yet

I placed on order online for delivery on the 25th, knowing that our salary would be paid in at midnight on the 24th.

Aside from issues where the site didn't work as it should, they called me around 3pm or so today (the day BEFORE delivery) to say that the order was cancelled due to insufficient funds.

How can they deduct my money a whole day BEFORE I have received my goods - it is not a free delivery, I am paying for the service; and secondly, they say there is no way they can reinstate the order and I will have to essentially do it again. Now, there is an easy way to access previous orders and just refill the cart using the cancelled delivery, but I find this to be most annoying.

I SPECIFICALLY set the date of delivery to be when there was money in the account, and yet they have now cancelled my delivery due to their own fault. And I will have most likely lost the cheapest delivery slot until next week which is annoying.

We have to pay a delivery charge for a service which seems to never have more than 75% of the items you actually order, then my order is cancelled! I am not impressed at all. What a pity there isn't comparable competition I could use instead
