House and Home refuses to honour guarantee

Bought a microwave on the 28th of January 2013 from house and home. July 2013 unit has no power and refuses to come on. Take it in to the store for repairs as its under guarantee. LG apparently comes back with a report that they found a cockroach inside and refuse to repair the unit under the guarantee. Instead they want me to pay R880-00 for a microwave that cost R1100-00. House and home seem very reluctant to help. They should honor the guarantee as i bought it from them. They should either replace the unit or pay the cost for fixing the unit. How can a consumer be liable for a cockroach getting inside when its beyond my control and this could have happened at the manufacturer, the delivery trucks, warehouses, in the store or at the consumers place. Where do u prove where this originated? Secondly the guarantee included does not specify anything about a cockroach voiding the guarantee. Im still waiting for feedback from them as its reaching the 21 day mark. And they have violated the consumer protection act in so many ways. A big franchize like this can face embarrasment and loss of customers for R1000 unit is pathetic. Going to report this to the national consumer commision
