Nine West
Mark-up of shoes

Shops, Products, Services

I saw a pair of sandals at the end of June marked R799 in the Brooklyn store. A week later I went back to the store, but they were gone. I asked the sales lady about them and she said that they sent all their stock to the Jhb branches, but can order them for me. I ordered two pairs which would have arrived the next week. They had problems with their driver and I eventually received my SMS to collect the shoes on the 16th of June. I went to the store yesterday (18 June) and the sales lady took the shoes out of the box for me to check and fit. The shoe was still marked R799, but when I got to the till to pay the total was R1998 for the 2 pairs. That is a R200 mark-up from the price I saw. I explained to them that the shoes were R799 when I saw them in the shop and the shoe that I just fitted and checked is still marked as R799. They just said "sorry, the box says R999". This huge mark-up was never communicated to me, nor visible! Is this standard practice? Cause I see similar complaints on this forum...
