CANNOT CLOSE MY ACCOUNT

Hi,

I attempted to close my account. However I had a credit balance of R807. This money is owed to me. In order to close my account my balance has to be R0.00. This means that TFG had to refund me. I was informed by a call centre consultant that I needed to go to a TFG store with my ID and my account card and they will refund me in cash. Only to be told I needed a 3 month bank statement, which costs R9.00 per page making 3 months about R40 for me. This had to accompany a copy of my ID as well as a form they required me to complete, which they didn't have in store.
I feel it is unfair that in order for me to retrieve what is rightfully mine I am forced to pay, in the form of the bank statement charges as well as time.

It seems as if they are making it hard for me to close my account.
I have not yet collated all the required documents. Which I will only be able to do over a weekend.
My next stop is the National Consumer Commission.
In principal TFG Financial Services is, through inadequate business processes and policies, putting consumers at a disadvantage.
Which is a direct contravention of the Consumer Protection Act.
