Woolworths
Delivery trucks cause a rumble

Shops, Products, Services

When Woolworths opened their store in the Morning Glen Mall in 2009, the strange decision was made to divert their delivery trucks for nearly a kilometre through Morningside Manor, a quiet, boomed off residential area, in order to access the back of the centre via a small service lane, rather than the entrance in Bowling Avenue, less than 100 metres from their loading bay. And this while they claim on their website that they always do a survey to determine the impact their delivery trucks will have on a residential area. A request by the residents to see a copy of this survey was very firmly denied.

Deliveries take place 7 days a week and despite assurances that it will be restricted to the period between 6 am and 10 pm, trucks regularly start rumbling through our suburb any time from 4 am, including weekends and public holidays, waking hundreds of residents.

During the past 4 years numerous emails were sent to the centre manager, the store in question and the distribution centre to complain, yet the problem persists. A fax was sent to Woolworths head office on 12 June 2013 to bring this matter to their attention. A response has still not been received.
