Understaffed -recurring problem

I shop at Pick n Pay Hypermarket a lot so I believe that I am qualified to complain about this recurring problem. Never staff in the aisles to help with queries. The Customer Service (?) desk was unmanned. The two phones on the counter were both off the hook. Eventually Andrew came along and I asked about the product I wanted. He called the manager, Chris, who told me that they were out of stock. I met another staff member on my way and asked him about the product. He was texting on his cellphone and darted down another aisle to call the manager. After 30 unproductive minutes, I proceeded to the tills. The queues were 6 deep with customers, trolleys laden to the hilt - it is month end after all. Less than a quarter of the tills were open. Asked the supervisor why the tills were closed. She says it's absenteeism. Surely they have backup staff? At month end? I left my trolley with her and was about to walk out when Chris, the manager meets up with us and produces the product that was supposedly out of stock. Norwood is understaffed with monotonous regularity and the customer service is non existent.
