Guilty until proven innocent

Approx a month ago, I purchased a pair of HP boots from a retailer in Harrismith.
After wearing my boots more or less 10 times, the innersole of the right boot started to lift and peel. Causing me extreme discomfort. I contacted the retailer whom informed me that they offer no guarantee on Hush Puppies, I then laid a complaint online. Tanya Fenwick from HP replied promptly, and it soon became clear to me that I am the one that has to prove that I am not a destructive consumer as opposed to them proving a substandard product.
I am to return the boots to them and tests will be done to determine a refund or new pair of boots. No one is sure just how long this process could take. Possibly the remainder of winter? This is not acceptable to me.
I then decided to just buy a innersole and fix the boots myself. Seems I made a accurate assumption when reading all the other complaints on this site. Hush Puppies never admits to wrong doing.
I am disappointed and will never buy Hush Puppies again. Paying alot of money for shoes is no longer a indication of quality. Chinese retailers, here I come!
