Manager's shocking attitude

We ordered a lemonade and my wife couldnt drink it as it was way too sweet. She simply asked that the glass be topped up with sparkling water. The waiter then brought a bottle of sparkling water to our table and my wife simply said that she wont be paying for it. Out storms the irate manager and, without bothering to ask for our side of the story, loudly and aggressively attacks my wife for "trying to get something for free". She responded by saying that she doesnt want either lemonade or sparkling water to which the manager loudly replied: "so now I must give you 2 free drinks! ". Most humiliating experience we have had in a restaurant.
