I've been an Edgars customer for a few years now and initially applied for the 6-month no-interest card. When the Thank U card was issued, mine stopped working and went into a local Edgars store to receive a new one. When asked what the difference was to both the shop staff and call centre staff (whom I called a week earlier), they ensured me its exactly the same "but with more benefits."

I recently made a large purchase, and when I requested a statement via phone (I had received no email statement even though I have requested it multiple times) I was informed that I was now on a 12-month term WITH 21% interest.

When did I agree to this? The call centre agent informed me that Edgars "was losing out" with the 6-month cards and now switched everyone to 12-month with interest accounts.

My problem is this: at no point was I informed of the terms, and at no point did I AGREE to the terms. Surely it's against the Consumer Protection Act to foist new terms on a consumer that never agreed to it or signed for it?
