I took my Garmin nuvi into the store on Friday 3rd May to have the software upgraded, after no less than 4 hours trying to get the software installed unsuccessfully (they could not load the latest version presumably because Garmin had problems with their server) I was handed back the GPS, paid a sum of approx R580 for the 'service' and on the way home found that some 'product expert' has successfully managed to delete all of my favorites, recently found data and all the original data I had on the GPS.

I phoned the store back twice, spoke with the manager as well as the so called 'product expert' only to have them blame one another. After I was promised by the store manager that they would call me back at 18h00 to tell me how they were going to fix this error I waited patiently but lo and behold no phone call.

Calling the head office meets with a recorded message and it seems that although their stores are open all weekend and after hours trying to get anyone from customer service involved in sorting this out is impossible.

summary: paid a fee for incompetent and ignorance on their part in delivering a service they should not be advertising if they are incapable of performing
