Over-frozen Freeze

My daughter bought a fridge freezer from Game, Mountain Mill, Worcester. She chose a DEFY because our DEFY stove and microwave was 30 years old and still going well. This model seems to have a problem. The unit was re-gassed twice and then replaced for it stopped cooling. The new unit is now freezing up so badly that the freezer drawers cannot be opened before some ice is not first removed from around the edges. The first unit did exactly the same. (freezing up around the edges)
