FULL payment before they step onto the property???

I have recently purchased a house which has a Maxidor installed over the sliding door. Finding it extremely difficult to open the security gates because they were sticking and badly aligned, I booked a service call with Maxidor for a repair quotation. All was well until I received, in my opinion, an inflated quotation for "roller units & dovetails" and some illegible components costing R40, the total quotation being R1, 795.50. What shocked me most was that the customer is required to unconditionally accept their terms and conditions which state that they want FULL payment before installation. As a consumer, that offers me no guarantee that the job will be done satisfactorily [or at all according to other complaints on Hello Peter] and no redress if it isn't. That's just bad business practice. I replied to their quotation with the proposal that I was prepared to sign acceptance of the order with the proviso that 50% be paid on acceptance of the order and the remaining 50% on satisfactory completion of the job. They won't budge excepting to say that I can pay 50% on acceptance of the quotation and the remaining 50% paid upfront on the day of installation. Same difference!!
