Inappropriate Trailers in Kids Movies

Recreation & Entertainment

Reference nr 23734 refers - after being told to wait 48 hrs, I have still not been contacted!

At the 11:45 screening of "Oz the Great and Powerful", which has a PG 7-9 age restriction, SK screened a preview for the 16 rated movie "21 and Over". Through this trailer, my daughter was exposed to lewd language, drinking games and gross alcohol abuse, objectification of women and other sexual images, spanking and violence, reckless use of weapons, etc., opening up for my 10 yr old a view of the world for which she was not yet ready and which I was not yet prepared for her to be exposed to. And without my prior consent or knowledge!

As a "family entertainment" establishment, surely the movie's age restriction should be taken into consideration when selecting trailers/previews! What exactly is Ster Kinekor's policy regarding the screening of previews for age restricted movies at movies in which children/pre-teens/young teens are present? If there is a policy, why is it so consistently NOT adhered to? If there is no policy, WHY in heaven's name not? Perhaps the people who make these decisions should be ones who have younger children and understand the implications of these decisions
