Incorrect Product Information

Recreation & Entertainment

Until recently I was a DSTV premium subscriber. For financial reasons I decided to downgrade to another package, but first phoned the call centre to find out if I would still be able to have access to the "Extraview" and PVR functionality (even if I choose another cheaper package). The call centre agent confirmed that this is not possible and that those features ("Extraview" and PVR) are only available on the premium package.

As such, because our household has multiple TV's I then decided that there is no point in staying with DSTV, since I can't afford the premium package anymore. This prompted me to invest in the relevant equipment to receive another pay-tv operator's services. This cost me about R 1500, not to mention the numerous phone calls to have the equipment installed. To my dismay I later found out that this was totally unnecessary, since DSTV does indeed allow subscribers to have the "Extraview" and PVR functionlaity on other packages.

Needless to say I am very disappointed and frustrated. Surely as a customer's first port of call the call centre operators should be well informed about all the aspects relating to the services offered by DSTV???
