Toptv service is pathetic!!!

I started having problems with my decoder in December when I switched it on and I was not able to view some of the channels. My son phoned TopTv and got instructions via voice prompts to reset the decoder which we did and it worked. Last week I experienced problems again where I couldn't view my favourite channels. My son downloaded instructions to change the decoder settings which we tried on Tuesday (2014-01-14). We tried these settings and at the end we got a technical error. We tried calling Toptv on that day but held for about 30 minutes and decided to hang up. My son phoned again on 17 Jan and as he's not staying with me he cannot be in front of the decoder with a consultant. As I'm 67 years old and stay alone, I'm unable to do technical things and we asked that Toptv send a technician we were informed it would be at my cost. In the first place, we were never informed of the decoder settings changes. Second of all, I'm unhappy as elderly customers cannot get the assistance they need.
I did not ask for the changes and I'm suffering without tv for a week and I'm paying. I am in the process of cancelling my subscription and changing to DSTV as I'm with TopTv!
