Discovery movie club card

Hi,
On Sunday, my wife and I went to watch Pacific Rim in 3D. I produced our Discovery Vitality Movie cards for the discount, but my card was not working (magnetic strip). I asked if they can enter the card nr into the ticket machine, but they said that it did not have this funtion. I went on to pay full price, as I did not want to miss the start of the movie and hold up the que. Surely if I produce the Movie card as proof of membership, I must receive the discount.
