I am a loyal listener of Metrofm. I few years ago I discovered that the Radio Data System (RDS) has been turned on in Gauteng. I wrote emails enquiring why it has not been turned on in other parts of the country, at least in the Metros.

After much debate, I was informed that it has been turn on in Gauteng on a trial basis. Other reasons offered were the licensing issues with ICASA., and that after the trial has been completed, a decision will be taken to roll it out in other parts of the country.

It has been about three years since my initial enquiries, and the status qou hasn't changed. Has Metrofm/SABC been lying to me, or are there other reasons why other parts of the country don't enjoy the same benefits offered by RDS?

I find this disturbing and want the whole country to know about my gripe with Metrofm/SABC
