Should have waited for Blu-Ray or DVD

Last night my girlfriend and I attended the 20:30 screening of Fast and Furious 6 at Somerset Mall. I do not go to the cinema often, because i have a pretty decent home theater set-up at home, however when a 'big budget' movie like Furious 6 comes along it is worth seeing on the big screen with the massive sound system. Last night however I might as well have not bothered. The sound was terrible. It was audible throughout the movie, but kept jumping between REALLY LOUD and really soft. I'm a qualified sound engineer so I know the difference between sounds just being at different volumes and something with the sound system obviously being wrong. After a really loud noise like a gunshot the sound would drop down to a whisper for 10-20 minutes then jump back up to normal levels. What makes it worse is that this is not the first time I've had an experience like this at this Cinema - and if i'm brutally honest, the cinema wasn't very clean either, and the air conditioning was also not working and by the end of the movie it was getting pretty stuffy in there. I would have had a better experience watching at home, so next time i won't spend the money to go there.
