Zodiac Pool Care
Zodiac MX8 Pool Cleaner has hidden costs

Real Estate

I Purchased a new Zodiac MX8 Pool which lasted less than a week in my pool before two hoses tore and a stone in my pool broke off two fins in the engine, rendering the cleaner useless. Zodiac's response was that hoses were not under warranty, neither is the engine if there are stones in it. I regularly removed stones from the old cleaner which was never damaged by them.
I eventually took the unused cleaner to them at a time convenient to me, to be told that the cleaner is not intended for a pool near stones or overhanging trees, both of which are near my pool. The offered to fix the new cleaner for R380, warning that it would break weekly with the same costs applicable, or alternatively I could throw away my R2000 purchase and they would give me a special price of R900 for a refurbished pool cleaner worth R1500 new. Thinking it looked too small, I questioned whether or not is was suited for a 90000 l pool, and was told that is was the right unit, as they did not have any other refurbished units. Having checked on their web site, the replacement unit offered is suited for a small pool, thus would have been incorrect.
I left my broken cleaner as scrap with them, feeling cheated.
