It is with most sadness that l write this complaint with regards to the South Rand Hospital in the Southern part of Johannesburg (Rosettenville), where on Sunday 19 January around 16.30 after seeing one of our relatives in ward 7 in forth floor, as we left the hospital, we were locked in the lift trying to leave the 4th floor.

To our suprise, we rang the alarm for almost 30 minutes without any assistance from the hospital staff till we ended up using an umbrella to save ourselves out of the misery. Only one nurse creamed that we ring the alarm bell for assistance and imagine the misery and fustration of being cramped in a lift without oxygen for 30 minutes. I also asked myself of what happens if there was an emergency, surely it means that's how most of our loved one's die considering this death trap.

I would love to know from management what mechanisms are ther for such mishaps as l assume l will not be the last and most of all not everyone would be lucky as l did
