Reconnection takes 24 hours!

My electricity was cut due to non-payment - just took ownership of new property. Although the mistake is on my side I paid the amount but the frustration is that they cannot give me an estimated time within 24hours when it will be reconnected. This to me, is unacceptable - we pay a lot for rates and taxes in the Atlantic Seaboard and surely there must be a better timing period! 24 hours is 1 Day. We are not living in the dark ages.
