Crime committed almost in front Police Station

I live almost opposite the police station and train station, my house has been broken into twice and the goods are moved over the wall which should almost be right in there faces! These guys know that the police will not worry about the houses close to them and they try their luck, I cannot sleep at night as I need to protect my family. And if it should happen that I hurt or even kill someone in the yard they would be the first to lock me up!!!

This is really shocking, what else can you do to protect your family?
