My tax was submitted on 6 July 2013. I phoned two weeks afterwards just to be told that I'm being audited and that it will take 30 working days. 30 Working days past on 22 August and I haven't received any money back from SARS. I phoned today and spoke to a very arrogant Mathew from the help desk. He told me that my account is NOW being audited by insurance audit department which will even take longer. I asked to speak to a manager and was put on hold and no one picked up the phone again.

SARS told the newspapers that they paid out over R6bn to consumers but kept quiet on all the other money they trying to keep with audits. SARS will easily charge you interest on money when you owe them.

I don't expect any callback from them. Just another useless department.
