Change of marital status from married to divorce

I have been trying since 29 February 2012 to get my marital status changed from married to divorced. Yes, it is a foreign marriage (USA), but I have submitted the documents twice at the regional office in Polokwane and have been there about numerous times, called them numerous times (the lady is never in the office) to no avail. They keep on saying the hold-up is at Head Office in Pretoria. However, no one can give me a contact at Head Office to get this matter sorted. What is a person to do?! I really do not know what to do anymore!
