Department of Home Affairs
DUPLICATE ID DOCUMENT

Politics & Government

On April 2012 it was announced by the Department of Home Affairs that citizens should verify if their ID Documentations are duplicate or not, on checking I found out that my ID is a duplicate. I was surprised as I have never at any point lost my certificate. During my first application in Mpumalanga - Mhala District Office in 2004, I found out that there were errors in the personal information but I was advised it will take time to rectify the errors, thus I was in the process of registering at a tertiary institution.

Upon finding out that my ID is a duplicate, I went to DHA Mpumalanga - Mhala District Office in 29 June 2012 to apply for ratification as I was advised by Home Affairs officials and I did supply all the necessary documentation to accompany the application form.

However it is a year now since I applied, and what I find worrisome is the fact that every time since I started calling in September 2012 I have always been told that my application is in its final process and that it will be printed anytime. Moreover, I'm made to go from one official to another with everyone of them offering no help as no one wants to take responsibility.

I am willing to provide any info
