My 2012 return has been an absolute nightmare and I fin the way SARS operates totally inefficient. There is no follow through and every time you visit them you see someone else and have to explain your case all over again.

I am disabled and for half the year there were no disabled parking bays at the centre - also home to Home Affairs. After kicking up a fuss and with the help of local councillors, eventually two bays were allocated. They are not the required 3, 5m wide but at least they are there now. Inside SARS the service for disabled clients is inconsistent - sometimes I'm given a Special Ticket, sometimes not.

The initial problem arose because I made error on my e filing return and after sorting that out, I thought all would be sorted, but no. I have now been audited, verified twice, conflicting information given regarding my disability claim and every time I go in a new error has been made.

The last time I went in I had to supply a statement regarding rental income and foolishly thought this would be the final visit. But no, now it emerged that my medical expenses had all disappeared off the system. We need a SARS Ombudsman!
